Advancing Forward: Technology Enhances Greatly From Year To Year
As the saying goes, ‘Need is the mother of invention’. Well, these days innovation in technology seems to be driving need as certain newly developed products become so mainstream that being without them can really single you out as being behind the times. With the rate at which technology advances increasing every year, it’s becoming harder and harder to stay on the pulse of cutting edge technology.
Even Moore’s Law for processor speed doubling every 18 months only held true up to about 4 years ago when the introduction of multiple core processors signaled the shift from simply finding the fastest processor speed to finding the one most able to handle today’s multi tasking PC environments.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here. Todays most powerful computer has up to 12 cores and an incredible 32 gigabytes of memory.
Similarly, the explosion in popularity of tablet PCs and e-readers has succeeded where a generation of ‘mini’ laptops were short lived, users preferring to have a less powerful but more user friendly and portable device instead.
Key developments that will continue to see technology advance are memory, both size and capacity, battery life and integration with wireless communication. No doubt other technology shifts will occur and surprise us even further in the future.
